Jeremy Tambling


Jeremy Tambling (BA York, M.Phil Nottingham, PhD, Essex) was Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Hong Kong, where he spent eighteen years, and was then until retirement Professor of Literature at the University of Manchester, and is now, on a part-time appointment, Professor at the Warsaw University of Social Sciences and Humanities (SWPS). Author of many monographs, from Dante, to Dickens, and to Lu Xun; and of many articles in journals, he edited The Palgrave Handbook of Literature and the City (2017) and is interested in present and past literatures; in critical theory, and in film, and is currently writing on literature and psychoanalysis, and on literature and the death-penalty.
