Amrita Bhalla is an academician, author and critic and is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi. Her research interests are in the representation of minorities and women during the colonial struggle for independence and in the shaping of Indian womanhood during colonial times. She has contributed reviews and articles to many journals. Her area of specialization is Feminism and Indian Writing especially the works of Shashi Deshpande. Amrita has been a strong supporter of South Asian writing and themes pertaining to this region and is actively associated with the DSC Prize outreach events that widen the conversation on South Asian writing among various audiences.
